Amy Manson

My Passion is working with clay a - a soft malleable substance- throwing, forming, urging it into an object of both beauty and function. An object, which can be admired, touched, held, and used in daily life.  This process and transformation of the soft clay into a hard and beautiful object meant to be seen, used, passed along, maybe even eventually broken and given back to the earth seems to mirror personal growth and transformation.

I use mid range clay and glazes in my work and enjoy glaze colors and themes which can be found in nature. I try to incorporate a combination of family, prayer, meditation , nature and the creation of pottery into every single day of my life as part of my own personal growth and transformation. It gives me great insight and joy to create a one of a kind piece of pottery artwork. I hope others enjoy viewing and utilizing my pots as much as I enjoy making them.

A Litte Background

I have been making pots for 20+ years and have had the good fortune to have been trained and mentored by many accomplished ceramic artists over the years.  I have studied at Clayworks Charlotte, Oddysey Center for Ceramic Arts, Penland School of Craft and Bill Van Gilder's Frederick Pottery School. My greatest joy is to "give back" by sharing this knowledge with emerging artists.

I have been professionally selling my wares and creations for 18 years and teaching pottery wheel and hand-building classes and workshops for 16 years.

I am an avid chef and enjoy creating functional bakeware, serving pieces and other items that enhance the culinary experience.

I have been making pieces to become part of your daily life as well as pieces that become part of your traditions and celebrations. I look forward to sharing my latest creations with you.

In 2018 I consolidated my teaching, studio and gallery locations by opening The Clay and Metal Loft - a vibrant teaching studio and gallery where I shared my love of ceramic arts for 6.5 years.

In 2023, We opened a new venture on a historic property in the Poconos of Pennsylvania. Home of Kettle Creek Pottery.
